A group of trees that are legally catalogued for having outstanding particularities related to their shape, size or age, or for taking part in myths or traditions. At the moment, there are 58 protected specimens or groups of trees in La Rioja. 7 of them are in Ezcaray and its surroundings, conforming an important part of the heritage that must be preserved and is worth discovering.
Perfect for family strolls, short and achievable. In Ezcaray we visit the Shepherds’ Beech, which is the oldest specimen of all of La Rioja with its 450 years of age, or the Fallizco Lime, which stands out for its size and beauty. For anybody searching for something more technical, there is the huge Gusaila’s Ash, in an exceptional nook in the mountains, which is a little harder to get to.
