Activity aimed for travel agencies, mountain clubs, corporations, family groups, etc. At Silvestres Ezcaray, we plan the best possible route according to each customer’s preferences and abilities, adapting its degree of difficulty and duration as well as different environmental interests. Please feel free to let us know what is it that you would like to see, when and how, so that we can guide you as easily as possible without you having to worry about anything.
We offer mid and long-distance trekking in Ezcaray’s part of the Sierra de la Demanda. Guided or self-guided. Based on themed, unexplored and attractive routes, designed with the utmost accuracy and detail. They can have one or several days of duration, with en route overnight camping. We plan and set-up set up the route, profile and characteristics of the itinerary, GPS-trackers, cartography, assistance service, provisioning, transport of luggage and equipment, permit management, etc.

Fatbikes Rental (Half Day)

To submerge in the peaceful rural environment that envelops the Sierra de La Demanda, Silvestres also offers the possibility to rent bicycles of mixed type, suitable for roads and paths. The Green Path of Oja is a superb option for a nice ride, joining the localities of Haro and Ezcaray. It can be completed in full or partially. Other alternatives are the Green Path of Zorraquín and the Horseshoe Way of Ezcaray’s small towns, the latter being more demanding as far as the slope and type of ground are concerned. To experience the feeling of cycling in the snow or to do a few descents, Fatbikes with thick wheels are also available.
The rental can be done for half a day, a whole day or a few days.
Includes: useful accessories such as helmets, spare parts, pump, padlock and baby carrier. Duration: half a day (4 hours) Time: all year round.

Scenic Off-Road Vehicle Routes (Whole Day)

A different way of visiting the Sierra de La Demanda’s natural environment is on an off-road vehicle drive through the numerous forest roads that cross its extensive mountain range. For anyone with a limited amount of time or mobility for health reasons this is the fastest way to absorb the magnificent scenery surrounding the natural environment of La Rioja’s High Oja area. With our 4×4 vehicles you will travel comfortably to the least accessible and crowded areas, enjoying the wildlife in their natural state, taking amazing pictures of mountain landscapes, endless dusks, colourful autumn forests, in the utmost calm.
Suggested routes: Sierra de La Demanda complete mountain range, San Millán Monasteries via the mountains, small towns of Ezcaray, Glacier lagoons of Neila… Includes: accompanying guide, transportation in off-road vehicle, binoculars, and picnic.
Duration: Whole-day (aprox. 7 hours). Season: Summer (June-October). 8 people maximum.

Birdwatching in La Rioja (Whole Day)

The bird life of the forest is extremely rich and diverse in the high valleys that outline the banks of the Oja river. A large quantity of natural habitats, that allows the observation of an interesting number of bird species at any time of the year. Spring is the best season, when birds of all kinds sing the nicest songs and chirpings, flooding the landscape with their melodies. In autumn, the high passes in the Sierra acquire great importance, as they are being crossed by thousands of individuals during their long migratory journeys. In winter, the group of aquatic birds gains interest, settled in the several wetlands from the lower part of River Ebro’s valley.
Includes: accompanying ornithological guide, off-road vehicle transportation, optical equipment for observation, binoculars and spotting scope, picnic for whole-day visits. Duration: Whole Day (aprox. 7 hours). Season: All year round.

Snowshoes Rental

From the parking from Valdeazcaray Ski Resort, leaves a nice path that ascends to the Cobetia pass. It is a wide, easy path with little incline, perfect for the initiation with snowshoes. The route is not delimited, but easy to follow with good snow and weather conditions. The route is linear, so we come and go through the same path. It has 5 km and around 200 m of altitude difference. Once in Cobetia, after changing slope, the view of the Cordal de La Demanda will be unbeatable. Caution on days of high winds. Rental of equipment: snowshoes and ski poles. Season: December – April.

Thus, as a winter sport activity, we offer you the possibility to come on an initiatory route with snowshoes in the Ezcaray Mountain. A qualified guide will help you put the snowshoes on and will teach you how to use them in different situations and how to make progress in safety, etc.… Provided that the snow and weather conditions enable us to do so, we will offer the most attractive routes on virgin snow, going through forests in the most beautiful and hidden corners of La Demanda.
Includes: accompanying guide, transportation in off-road vehicle, rental of equipment (snowshoes and ski-poles). Duration: 3-4 hours. Possibility of open groups. Season: Winter (December-April).

Wild Mushroom Picking Tourism

Wild mushroom picking in the natural environment is a stimulating and pleasant activity. Autumn is the best season to enjoy it, since the climate conditions favour the growth of many species, some of them being true culinary delicacies due to their intense aromas or taste, among which stand out the Boletus, the saffron milk cap, the Chanterelle or the Scotch bonnet. The woods and meadows of the Sierra are home to an extraordinary diversity of wild mushrooms, with countless shapes, colours and scents. Among these, we must be able to recognise which species are suitable for human consumption, and more importantly, how to tell them apart from other ones with any degree of toxicity.
Initiatory outings to identify and pick up different species in their natural habitats. Includes: Mycological accompanying guide, transportation in off-road vehicle, permits, knife, basket, guides and small picnic. Duration: 4 hours. Season: Autumn (October-November) and summer (June-July).
